One very destructive piece of software that appears as if it is helping you but is actually harming your computer is AntiMalware2009. It misleads you by popping up numerous warnings of infections and then offers to scan your computer online. After the scan completes it suggests you to download AntiMalware2009. Once you download the software, it warns you of many fake infections and then scares you into buying a license for the software.
